Tests Included:
Bacterial STIs:
Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea: Usually tested with a urine sample or swabs from the cervix, vagina, or urethra.
Trichomoniasis: May be tested with a vaginal swab for women or a urine sample for men.
Mycoplasma Hominis
Mycoplasma Genitalium
Ureaplasma Urelyticum
Chancroid
Viral STIs:
HIV 1&2: A separate blood test specifically detects HIV.
Hepatitis B and C: Blood tests are used to detect these viruses.
Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) 1 & 2: These can be detected through blood tests or a swab from a visible sore (if present). However, blood tests may not always detect recent infections.
Parasitic STI:
Trichomoniasis: As mentioned above, this can be tested with a vaginal swab or urine sample.
Syphilis Blood Test: This is usually included in a comprehensive screen. It's a two-step process:
Non-treponemal test (e.g., RPR or VDRL)
